Holiday memories

   Posted by: Roguetech    in Asperger's, Uncategorized

I've been getting ready to move, so haven't had any time to post, but I'll take a moment to add a few more to the prior post on childhood memories...

Fourth grade memories

   Posted by: Roguetech    in Asperger's, Uncategorized

Reading John Elder Robison's look me in the eye got me thinking of childhood memories, particularly those where I was a misfit. I've brought several to mind that I hadn't thought of in years. I'll share one or two now, and maybe share others later on.

Tostito’s commercial

   Posted by: Roguetech    in Asperger's, Uncategorized

Just sitting here watching tv, and they played that damn Tostitos commercial again. "I used to think koalas were bears when everyone knows they're marsupials." Unfortuantly, the way the actor says it, I hear "I used to think COBOL-as were bears...", and it takes a couple seconds for me to decipher what he actually says, despite having seen the commercial several times.

I suppose it could have been worse... They could have played an Autism Speaks commercial.

look me in the eye

   Posted by: Roguetech    in Asperger's

I've been reading look me in the eye by John Elder Robison (http://www.johnrobison.com), about a man who has not only lived with Asperger's, but has lived a full life as an "Aspergian" (his word...I use "Aspie"). It's a good read.

Breaking up

   Posted by: Roguetech    in Asperger's, Relationship

As she said, "you can't do something with nothing." I was hoping she'd be willing to work on it, or have some idea on how to work on it. But, I'd have been happy if she'd just said she'd be willing to let me speak without turning everything against me.

I guess maybe it's good it's happened now, since I was considering asking her to marry me before we started having so many problems the last month or so. But there is no bright side to this. It sucks.

Relationship on the rocks

   Posted by: Roguetech    in Asperger's, Relationship

She told me just now that she can't speak to me because I twist whatever she says... And I can't speak to her without her ripping whatever I say apart, even if it's something that I would think is cut-and-dry like "I know." So the relationship of two years is pretty much over. I don't know what's been wrong with her, why she's been so critical of me. I don't guess it really matters. Since she doesn't like me anymore, it's over.

Speaking, but not speaking

   Posted by: Roguetech    in Asperger's, Relationship

Girlfriend and I have been back on speaking terms for several days, but every other or every third thing I say is wrong. Like tonight:

Minor videodb mod – allow adding genres

   Posted by: Roguetech    in PHP programming, videodb

Did a new mod to videodb. To be able to add custom genres, and automatically add imdb genres:

OPEN edit.php
FIND

// check if genre is found- otherwise fail silently
if (is_numeric($genre = getGenreId($gname)))
{
$genres[] = $genre;
}

Relationship Catch-22

   Posted by: Roguetech    in Asperger's, Relationship

My girlfriend and I are having issues. Lately she's been complaining more and more about me. We had a fight several days ago, where she bitched about something I said. I said I'd just keep my mouth shut from now on, and asked a couple times if that's what she wanted. She never answered, so I have been saying as little as possible to her. I just don't know what to do. I don't want to loose her, but on the other hand, she doesn't seem to be happy with me.

videodb Random page mod

   Posted by: Roguetech    in PHP programming, videodb

I've finally done a major update on videodb to add to the mods in the previous post. I've modded it to allow selecting criteria for selecting a Random movie. It allows picking genres, selecting a minimum rating, or selecting MPAA ratings. Demo
